If you’re unsure, MERV 11 is the best balance for most homes.
How do I know what filter size I need?
Check the size printed on the frame of your current filter, such as 16 × 25 × 1. You can also measure your existing filter or check your HVAC system’s manual.
Air filters are typically labeled using a nominal size, which is a rounded measurement. The filter’s actual dimensions are usually slightly smaller so it can fit properly inside your HVAC system.
Example
Nominal Size: 20 × 20 × 1
Actual Size: 19½ × 19½ × ¾ inches
Actual dimensions may vary slightly by manufacturer.
