Sizes & ordering

5 questions
How do I find my filter size?
Look at the side of the filter you have now. The size is printed on the frame, like 20x25x1 (width x length x depth, in inches). Pick that size on our site. No old filter? Our size guide shows you how to measure.
Why is my filter a little smaller than the size on it?
Filter sizes are rounded. A 20x25x1 filter really measures about 19.5 x 24.5 x 0.75 inches, so it slides into the slot easily. This is normal for every brand, and the real size is shown on each product page.
What sizes do you make?
Over 60 standard sizes in 1, 2 and 4 inch depths. Shop by size to find yours.
My size isn't listed. Can you make it?
Yes. We make custom sizes to your exact measurements. Order a custom filter here.
Can I order for a business or several homes?
Yes. Email us at info@filterhome.com with your sizes and how many you need, and we will send you pricing.

Filters & MERV ratings

6 questions
What does MERV mean?
MERV is a number that shows how well a filter catches small things in the air. The higher the number, the smaller the bits it can catch.
Which filter should I pick?
MERV 8 catches everyday dust and pollen and lets air flow most easily. MERV 11 is right for most homes and also catches pet dander. MERV 13 catches even smaller bits, like smoke, and is a good pick if someone has allergies. The Odor Eliminator has activated carbon to help with smells and smoke. Not sure? Take our 10-second quiz.
Is a higher MERV always better?
Not always. A higher MERV catches more, but air has to push a little harder to get through it. Most home systems do well with MERV 8 to 13. If your system is older or the air feels weak, MERV 8 or 11 is a safe choice.
How often should I change my filter?
For a 1-inch filter, about every 2 to 3 months. Every 1 to 2 months if you have pets or allergies, or run the heat or AC a lot. Thicker filters last longer: 4-inch filters can go 6 months or more.
Which way does the filter go in?
Find the arrow on the side of the frame. Point it toward the furnace or air handler, the same way the air flows.
Where are your filters made?
Right here on Long Island. We make every filter at our shop at 217 Central Ave in Farmingdale, NY.

Subscribe & Save

5 questions
How does Subscribe & Save work?
Pick your size, filter and how often you want a new one: every 1, 2, 3, 6 or 12 months. We ship each filter on that schedule, and you get 10% off every delivery.

Yes, anytime. There is no minimum and no fee. Log in to your account to make changes, or call, text or email us and we will do it for you.
Can I change my size, filter or schedule later?
Yes. Change it from your account, or just tell us and we will update your next delivery.
